How to Register a New Device Licence

Device Licences let you register and manage the physical devices that run TechSuite apps (such as POS terminals, kiosks, or kitchen displays). Each licence connects a device to the correct profile and location, ensuring it runs with the right settings.

You can use this section to generate licence codes, assign devices to profiles, and manage any registered hardware from one place.

To Get Started

To access device licence settings, log in to the TechSuite portal and go to Settings > Devices & Profiles from the sidebar. Then, click Device Licences. On this page, you’ll see all currently registered devices along with their type, connected profile, and licence code.

Device Licences Access

Adding a New Device Licence

To register a new device, go to the top-right corner of the Device Licences page and click the Register New Device Licence button Register New Device Licence button. This will open the panel where you can enter the setup details.

a. Branch Name

Choose the branch this device belongs to. Licences are tied to one location.

b. Device Name

Give the device a clear and recognisable name (e.g. Front POS, Kitchen Display, Lobby Kiosk).

c. First Connected Profile for this Licence

Select how this device will be used and which profile should control it:

  • c.1. Device Licence Type

Choose General, POS, KDS, Kiosk, or Menu Display.

  • What is General Licence Type?

Choose General when the device won’t run POS, KDS, Kiosk, or Menu Display. It’s ideal for tablets used only to access the Management Portal (Orders, Customers, Reports and others). No till functions (POS/KDS screens, receipt printing, payment-terminal pairing) are enabled. You can repurpose the device later by editing the licence and attaching a POS, KDS, Kiosk, or Menu Display profile.

  • c.2. Connected Profile

pick the matching POS Profile, KDS Profile, Kiosk Profile, or Menu Display Profile.

  • c.3. Connected Printers

Appears only for POS and Kiosk types (KDS and Menu Display do not use printers).

d. Connect Second Profile (Optional)

If the device must run both POS and KDS on the same device, click Connect Second Profile and add the second type/profile (e.g. first = POS, second = KDS).

Important Note

This option is available only when the first/primary type is POS or KDS. For Kiosk and Menu Display, the second-profile option is hidden because those roles are single-purpose and cannot be combined on the same licence.

e. Generate the Licence Code

Click Generate Licence to create a unique Licence Code. The code appears in the Device Licences list. Copy it from there and enter it on the app’s activation screen to link the device.

You can customise (edit) the code later from Edit Device Licence if you prefer a branch-friendly or memorable code.

b. Understanding Device Licence Rows

Each row represents a single device licence and contains:

Device Licence Row

Here’s what each element does:

  1. Device Name: Displays the name you assigned to the device (e.g. Kitchen POS, Lobby Kiosk).
  2. Licence Type: Indicates the interface type this device is using: POS, KDS, Menu Display or Kiosk.
  3. Connected Profile: Displays which POS, KDS, Kiosk, or Menu Display profile is currently assigned to this device.
  4. Licence Code: Shows the unique licence code assigned to this device. Use the QR icon to scan directly from a terminal or tablet.
  5. Edit Device Licence Button: Edit the device’s licence code in the Edit panel, and also rename the device or update connected profiles. Click Save to apply immediately.
  6. Delete Device Licence Button: A trash icon appears when you hover over a row. Use this to permanently remove the device licence from your system.

What’s Next?

Once your device licence is created, the next step is to connect it to the correct device so it can run with the right settings. Head to the relevant help article for your device type:

Following these steps ensures the licence is activated and your device runs the correct profile configuration.
