Kitchen Display System (KDS) on the POS App

The Kitchen Display on the TechSuite POS app replaces paper tickets with a live, digital feed of everything that needs preparing. It’s the same Kitchen Display module you configure in the Portal. The POS tile is a quick shortcut for daily use.

Quick KDS Summary (Full article in Kitchen Display System)

This page covers using KDS in the POS app on this terminal. For full setup, profiles, stages, grouping, and device linking, see Kitchen Display System.

To Get Started

Open the TechSuite POS app, sign in, and tap the Kitchen Display tile on the Home screen.

Open Kitchen Display from POS Home

KDS Stages

KDS Stages

a. New Orders

Items that just arrived and are waiting to be acknowledged.

b. Preparing

Items the team has acknowledged and started.

c. Completed

Items finished and marked ready.

d. All Orders

A consolidated view of every ticket and item across New, Preparing, and Completed, ideal for scanning the whole queue at a glance and spotting bottlenecks.

Profile-driven settings (set in your KDS Profile)

a. Order processing mode
  • a.1. Update whole orders at once

Best for smaller teams to move the entire order from Waiting → Preparing → Completed with one action.

  • a.2. Update each item individually

Best for shared stations, mark each line item through the stages separately.

b. Skip the Preparing stage (two-state flow)

Turn off the Preparing state to run a simple Waiting → Completed process if your workflow does not need an in-progress state.

c. All-Day View grouping

Choose whether All-Day View groups by category (for example, Coffee, Cakes, Lunch) or shows one continuous list of all items.

All Day View

d. Assign the profile to a device licence

Each screen or tablet runs one KDS Profile via a Device Licence. Use separate profiles per area (for example, Bakery KDS for pastries, Coffee KDS for drinks) so each team only sees what they need.

All-Day View

a. What it shows

A running total of how many items are needed across all current orders.

b. Why it helps

If five guests order Iced Latte, you will see “Iced Latte ×5” in one row, which is ideal for batching.

c. Sorting options

Count (high to low), Count (low to high), or Alphabetical.

Controls & Behaviour

a. Acknowledge and complete

Move items from New Orders to Preparing, then to Completed as you finish them.

b. What you cannot do

Orders cannot be rejected or cancelled from KDS.

c. Always up to date

Orders from POS, kiosk, and connected channels update the board instantly.
